EHO helps refugees around Šid and at border crossings with Croatia
In the period, 21 - 27 September 2015, EHO organized all-day field work, on the road Šid - Tovarnik and Berkasovo - Bapska. Employeees and volunteers of EHO took part in the distribution of aid.
During seven days of field work EHO distributed 3,000 kg apples, 2400 kg bananas, 3,500 loaves of bread, 6,000 liters of water, 6,000 chocolate bars, 3,000 biscuit packages, 1,200 packages of peanuts, 1,800 dry fruit packages, 1600 small shampoo packages, 1200 soap, 2,200 moist wipes’ packages, 2,200 paper tissues pack, 500 raincoats, 20 tents, 40 blankets, and 40 sleeping bags with 50 mats.
First Aid Services (basic medical examination, wound & injury treatment and the issuance of essential drugs) were used by about 800 refugees.
On Sunday, 27 September 2015, EHO started to implement the decentralized field work. During the week, 28 Sep – 04 Oct 10 2015 local staff and volunteer from the Evangelical Methodist Church in Šid will work in the distribution of humanitarian aid and first aid services. This local group of volunteers is one of the 35 diaconal groups within the unique network of diaconal groups of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization. EHO network of diaconal groups has 35 active groups (180 volunteers) in the 25 local self-government units on the territory of Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia. This network has been active since 1996.
