Golden Wheel for EHO - new award for the work with Roma
 EHO won the "Golden Wheel" (Zlatni točak) award for the special contribution to the Roma inclusion in Serbia.
The award was given by National Coucil of Roma National Minority in Serbia.
On Tuesday, 8th April 2014 in the Home of the Youth (Dom Omladine) in Belgrade, the National Coucil of Roma National Minority in Serbia organized a manifestation "A Step Out in Time" (Iskorak u vremenu) on the occasion of 8th April, World Day of Roma.
This year's award was given to recipients in the following categories: state institutions, embassies, international organizations, civil society oganizatios and individual person(s), that made the greatest annual contribution to Roma Inclusion.
On behalf of EHO, award was received by EHO deputy director Robert Bu.

Roundtables in Novi Sad and Novi Becej
On Thursday 27 March and Friday 28 March held were roundtables in Novi Sad and Novi Bečej that gathered representatives of local institutions and civil society associations who deal with returnees upon Readmission agreements. These roundtables identified problems in (re)integration of returnees and defined proposals for advancement of existing local resources and services available to returnees. These consultations are held under the project “Advancement of Local Services for Roma Returnees” supported by Serbian governmental Office for Human and Minority Rights.

EHO presented Good Practice Example in the Housing of Roma

 klik na sliku za uvećani prikaz On Monday 07 April 2014 a conference was held in Belgrade on the occasion of International Day of the Roma, organized by Serbian governmental Office for Human and Minority Rights, technically supported by OSCE Mission in Serbia.  At the conference, EHO deputy director and Program Coordinator of the EHO Roma Resource Center, Robert Bu, presented a Good Practice Example – Housing conditions for Roma. The presentation included basic information on the copyrighted model of work „Needs-Based Improvement of Roma Settlements” successfully implemented by EHO in Serbia since 2007...

Delegation of Diakonie Württemberg visited EHO
 click on image to enlarge In the period from 30 March to 03 Aprila 2014 Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) was visited by representatives of partner organization Diakonie Württemberg and three journalists from Germany.
During the visit, guests visited EHO projects Diaconal Home Care, Shelter for Street Children and Roma Resource Center. In these visits, guests were able to Tokom ovih poseta, Guests were able to become familiar with the work of EHO and with achieved results.
Also, organized were meetings with representatives of local municipal self-governing units (Municipality of Bačka Palanka and City of Novi Sad), with provincial organs (Provincial Secretariate for Education, Governance and NationalMinorities and with  za obrazovanje, upravu i nacionalne zajednice i Provincial Secretariate for Industry, Employment and Gender Equality) and with national administrative authority (Office for Human and Minority Rights of the Republic of Serbia).
During April 2014, it is expected that appropriate articles shall be published by three media houses from the German region Baden-Württemberg.
Diakonie Württemberg is a long-term partner of EHO, which supports EHO projects for elderly, Roma and migrants.
 
Delegation of Evangelical Lutheran Church of America visited EHO
 In the period 25-26 March Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) was visited by representatives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America – ELCA.
During the visit, guests were acquainted with the work of EHO. Representatives of ELCA presented the program for Europe and initiated were consultations about eventual future cooperation between EHO and ELCA. Also, the guests visited EHO projects Diaconal Center, Shelter for Street Children and Roma Resource Center. Organized was also a visit to Slovak Evangelical A.C. Church in Bački Petrovac.  
A further development of EHO-ELCA cooperation is expected.
