Churches and Advocacy Training

From 23-25 April 2009 the EHO Training Centre hosted the 2nd module of the ‘Churches and Advocacy’ project, a training and advocacy venture implemented by EHO, with the support of the WCC Ecumenical Solidarity Fund from Geneva.
The aim of this project is to combine training and learning, by doing, to build the capacities of young church leaders and activists, in the planning and implementation of advocacy campaigns, as well as other activities.
The 1st module, held from 14-15 March this year, dealt with the concept and purpose of advocacy, its biblical bases, case studies and identification of relevant and potential real-life advocacy issues in the participants’ local environment. This 2nd module dealt with the advocacy methods and strategies, along with practicing the planning process.
The 3rd – and the final – module will be delivered in September 2009. Meanwhile, supported by the trainers, through consultancy, the participants will start implementing the advocacy activities they have developed during theie training in their local communities.

New projects

"Come prepared to a new country — a diaconal project in support of pre-integration.”

The aim of the project "Come prepared to a new country — a diaconal project in support of pre-integration” is to give advice and assistance to persons wishing to go to Germany. It prepares people before they leave their own country, regarding the emigration process, and their potential new life in Germany. In this way the future integration process in Germany is supported and improved.
As part of the project, potential emigrants who attend German language courses are offered additional advisory consultations covering both emigration and immigration as well as information and contact with their future place of abode. This enables them to better prepare themselves, in a structured way, for the social, economic and cultural aspects of life in Germany.
