World Mental Health Day Event Held in Reception Center Šid

Kreativna radionica za kontrolu besa

11. Oct 2020.

The World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10 was also marked in the Reception Center in Šid with the youngest beneficiaries, by the means of a workshop on the importance of recognizing and expressing emotions.
Through an interactive discussion with the children, it turned out that they are most disturbed with the emotion of anger and because they do not know what they should do when things get worse and anger kicks in. Therefore, the rest of the workshop was dedicated to discussion about anger control and practicing useful techniques to overcome it.
The goal was to teach children to recognize situations that are triggers for the manifestation of aggressive behavior and to master strategies by which they can control their anger and channel it in the right direction, as well as to solve the problem in a constructive way.
First, the concept of anger is explained, and after that, each child identified a situation that makes them feel angry and then made a strategy for its control that would be helpful in future situations.
The end of the workshop was creative where the children made "bearish moods", which can change facial expressions and thus reflect different emotions.
The topic was interesting for the children, especially the way it was covered and they participated interactively.
The project for the empowerment of migrant women and children is supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in two reception centers.
