Hobby making of zen gardens in Reception Center Šid

30. Jun 2021.

EHO associates engaged in the implementation of project activities for women in the reception center in Šid, realized a creative workshop with women, making zen gardens, aiming to provide psychosocial support. The women involved were first introduced to the concept of the Zen garden and its hopeful positive effects. Given the living circumstances to which the persons accommodated in the reception centers are exposed, the participants in the workshop had the opportunity to create a model of their refuge in a relaxed way. The influence of Zen gardens should contribute to the psychological moment of relaxation, calming the mind and displacing it from everyday problems. The women enjoyed the activity very much, indulged in a feeling of peace and tranquility and showed creativity in making it.

There are currently 132 people in RC Šid, of which 38 are women. The project Empowering Women and Refugee Children is being implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).
