New Tools for New Opportunities: Supporting Entrepreneurs in Sremska Mitrovica and Laćarak
11. May 2026.
Sremska Mitrovica and Laćarak now have a further strengthened craft sector thanks to the provision of tools and equipment for four EHO beneficiaries. This support directly contributes to the development of small family businesses, enabling them to move toward more stable and higher-quality operations.
Among those supported is Željko Dimić from Laćarak, whose new auto mechanic tools will allow him to independently perform more complex repairs and expand his circle of regular customers. In Sremska Mitrovica, Sandro Subotić and Elvis Alimanović received professional equipment for interior and finishing construction works. For them, this means the ability to complete work on more demanding projects faster and with greater precision, which is crucial for remaining competitive in the market. Thanks to new equipment, Radovan Marković will be able to improve the servicing of electrical tools, reducing repair time and raising the quality of service within his community.
What connects these individuals, besides their craftsmanship, is their responsibility toward their large families. More stable income earned through their own work means a better everyday life for the children and household members who depend on them.
In addition to the equipment itself, the beneficiaries are also included in a mentoring support system. Through guidance on business planning and development, EHO aims to ensure that the initial support grows into a sustainable source of income. In this way, the focus shifts from immediate assistance to long-term economic security.
These activities are part of the project "Education and Economic Empowerment of Marginalized Groups," implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of partners Brot für die Welt and Diakonie Württemberg / Hoffnung für Osteuropa.
