The Network for (Re) Integration of Returnees in Serbia

The Network for (Re) Integration of Returnees in Serbia is a project created with the aim of contributing to (re) integration of returnees and helping to establish support measures to strengthen families returned from the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Serbia under the Readmission Agreement. The overall goal is to improve the existing system of services and support to returnee families by strengthening the capacity of the Network of Local Associates for reintegration and transfer of knowledge and experience of the German model of social protection.

The implementation of project activities is planned in two phases, with the emphasis in the first phase on strengthening the capacity of the Network for Integration of Returnees and its expansion, while the second phase is planned to conduct research to map resources in 15 cities and municipalities in Serbia. in order to design a comprehensive information and educational brochure available to returnee families in four languages ​​(Romani, Albanian, German and Serbian). During the first phase, a study visit was made to German social welfare institutions and projects for intensive family preservation services, such as the service of a family associate. The study visit lasted 5 days and included a visit to German institutions and social welfare institutions by representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, the Republic Institute for Social Welfare, the City Administration for Children and Social Welfare of the City of Novi Sad, the Center for Social Welfare. work, the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, local associates for (re) integration and members of the project team of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization. Also, as part of the project activities, conferences were planned for experts gathered in the social protection system, but also in the non-governmental sector in order to present the project results, exchange information and define common goals in improving the position of returnee families.

The project was implemented in the period from January 2019 to the end of December 2020, with the support of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and the Wiemberg Deaconry from Germany.
