Assisted Integration of Women and Children
The project is being implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization since May 2019 within the reception centers in Subotica and Sombor. The target group is women and children who stay in the two centers due to the migrant crisis. The project is designed on the fact that migration profoundly impacted safety and well-being of refugee women and children, therefore the project aims that every child and/or woman who visit the Day Care Center may fore-mostly receive a supporting hand through engagement in children’s activities for developing motor and other abilities and skills, including women’s activities to discover and develop own potentials and work skills.
Project activities are realized by the educators engaged in the project-based daily work schedule at the Day Care Center (Safe Corner for Children and Women). The work is based on creation of a safe environment with opportunities for playing, learning, fostering creativity and developing work skills are provided. In this sense, the work is focused on:
• educational activities (organization of Serbian and English language classes, math, geography classes, etc.);
• creative workshops for children with varied thematic approaches for expressing children’s creativity and potential development;
• occupational-creative activities for women aimed at developing skills relevant for their vocational training.
Such work contributes to the achievement of the ultimate goal of the project, namely: enhanced educational competences and developed social and work skills of refugee women and children in Reception centers Sombor and Subotica affected by the migrant crisis by the means of informal education, aimed to contribute to further integration in the countries of final destination.
