Possibilities for a New Start
The project has been implemented with an aim to improve housing conditions and the process of reintegration of returnees in Serbia over a two-year period.
The project was consisted of three components: economic empowerment, improvement of housing conditions and legal protection. All three components aimed to assist the process of reintegration of returnees, mostly returnees from the Federal Republic of Germany, in the territory of the Republic of Serbia. Priority was given to vulnerable returnee families who live in poor housing, are unemployed and did not receive assistance from other organizations. In addition, non-returnee Roma and non-Roma families who are at risk and live in similar neighborhoods have had the opportunity for support in this project. During the project's reintegration process, a minimum of 150 families (min. 540 individuals) were planned to be supported through improval of socio-economic status, housing conditions and access to rights.
Also, through cooperation with all relevant partners at national and local level, EHO actively worked to advance existing policies and practices related to migration, (re) integration and the status of vulnerable and vulnerable groups.
The project was being implemented on four locations in Serbia: the City of Subotica, the City of Kikinda, the City of Zrenjanin and the Municipality of Žitiste, that were selected as project sites, precisely because of the large number of returnees who were primary target beneficiaries.
The project employed uses the EHO methodology of work, which is based on equality, participation, multisectoral cooperation / partnership, cost-effectiveness and transparency.
Implementation Period: January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2019
