Inclusive support for refugees in southern Serbia
The project "Inclusive support for refugees in Southern Serbia" aims to improve the psychosocial well-being, resilience and social inclusion of refugees and asylum seekers from Ukraine and the Middle East residing in reception and asylum centers in southern Serbia.
Project activities are being implemented at the Asylum Center in Vranje, where refugees from Ukraine reside, and at the Reception Center in Bujanovac, where migrants and people on the move from the Middle East are accommodated.
During the project, beneficiaries will be provided with psychosocial support, organized educational, occupational and integration activities, as well as various humanitarian interventions aimed at improving the dignity, protection and quality of life of the most vulnerable groups, especially women and children.
The project includes individual and group psychosocial sessions, Serbian language and life skills workshops, human rights education, intercultural events connecting refugees with the local community, as well as the distribution of basic humanitarian aid such as hygiene packages, medical supplies, baby food, and winter clothing.
A special part of the project is dedicated to strengthening the capacities of employees in reception and asylum centers, through training on mental health, working with trauma, and supporting people who have survived violence or difficult experiences.
Through these activities, the project will directly support at least 250 refugees and asylum seekers, contributing to their recovery, greater social inclusion, and building a safer and more supportive community environment.
The project is funded by the United Methodist Committee on Relief of Global Ministries (UMCOR) .
The project lasts: December 1, 2025 - December 1, 2026.
