22 beneficiaries of this year's assistance for the improvement of housing conditions signed donation contracts with the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organisation. The signing was organized on June 21, in Sremska Mitrovica and on June 22, in Ruma.

The contracts were signed by the beneficiaries who were approved for this support within the project intended for returnees from Germany and other Western European countries, "Assistance for a New Start". The project also partially supported non-returnees living in poor housing conditions. On that occasion, the beneficiaries were informed about the mutual rights and obligations arising from the signed contract, as well as about further procedures related to the construction works itself, which they are to perform. The delivery of construction materials necessary for the repair of houses will start soon. The assistance also includes the professional help of EHO engineers in the field during the construction works, as well as paid installation and ceramic works for the new bathrooms.

The services provided are supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the Migration for Development (PME) Programme. The Programme is part of the global initiative “Returning to New Opportunities” of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
