SPORTS FOR THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF PEOPLE ON THE MOVE

The Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) announces an open call for:

1. Manager of sports activities in reception centers in Subotica, Sombor and Šidon the project "Protection support and humanitarian aid to people on the move"

The Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization is one of the leading civil society organizations in Serbia that, through practical action, contributes to the construction of a just society in which differences are respected. EHO's target groups are vulnerable and marginalized groups whose human rights are violated and/or discriminated against.

The goal of the project "Protection support and humanitarian aid to people on the move" is to contribute to reducing the vulnerability of migrants who are in reception, asylum and transition centers in Serbia through direct humanitarian aid and providing access to psychosocial support by organizing occupation workshops in reception centers.

Position title: Head of sports activities

Time frame: July - December 2022.

During one month, 9 workshops are held. 3 in each center. The time frame is flexible and depends on the type of activity.

Status: Copyright contract

We need leaders of sports activities.

People who engage in any sports activities and are willing to share their knowledge, experience, passion and will to share with the migrant population housed in the three reception centers can apply.

As support for migrants staying in the aforementioned reception centers, we organize occupational workshops using sports as a method for psychosocial support.

The sports activities create a sense of community and belonging. They have the potential for social inclusion and give us space to reach out to the migrant community.

You can organize volleyball tournaments, football tournaments, games without borders, do gymnastics, breathing exercises... whatever you think will contribute to better psychophysical health of people on the move.

What do we want to achieve with the sports activities that we shall organize in the reception centers?

Individual benefit (health, fitness, coping with stress, improving quality of life), social benefit (fighting isolation and building social networks) and community benefit (using sport as a means of communication between migrants and host/local communities).

Who are the participants in the workshops?

Migrants staying in reception centers.

People on the move stay in reception centers from a few days to a few months, or even years...and the participants in the workshops will be variable. Which means that you should have an open concept for sports activities that new people can join. The approximate number of participants in one workshop is 15 - 25. The number may be subject to change.
