The International Day of Peace is celebrated around the world on September 21, and on this occasion, an educational and creative workshop with children was organized in the reception centers in Šid and Sombor, through the project "Empowerment of refugee women and children".

Educators from the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization presented the children with the significance of this day, which has been celebrated since 1981. All countries and peoples are invited to celebrate peace and make their contribution so that peace reigns in the world. The importance of friendship, tolerance and peace was pointed out to the children through the conversation. Also, the children talked about what peace means to them, where most agreed that peace is when there is no war and when everyone is safe. This was followed by a joint activity, where the children made posters representing peace in the world.

The ecumenical humanitarian organization implements the project with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).
