Global Hand washing Day is celebrated around the world on October 15. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of clean hands, and to the development of a culture of handwashing with soap, both globally and locally. Thus, a developed culture of hands washed with soap significantly contributes to a lower rate of contracting infectious diseases. Handwashing Day was originally intended for children, but now it applies to the entire population.

In the Reception center in Šid, in the children's corner, educators of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization marked this day with the youngest beneficiaries. The education on hand washing involved drawing posters on the given topic, talks about hygiene and practical demonstration of proper hand washing. After the workshop, symbolically, the children received packets containing handmade soaps.
