International Day of Tolerance celebrated in Reception Center Sombor

18. Nov 2022.

The International Day of Tolerance is celebrated around the world on November 16. On this occasion, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, together with associates from the Center for Social Work and the IOM organization, realized an educational and creative workshop, through the project "Empowerment of Refugee Women and Children".

Beneficiaries of the center, aged between 20 and 25, participated in the workshop, where tolerance was defined as respect, acceptance of diversity of cultures, as well as forms of expression, through conversation and discussion. Each participant had the task of expressing oneself in one word what the concept of tolerance represents to them, thus, they replied with concepts such as love, friendship, acceptance, peace, humanity and empathy.

At the end of the workshop, a common message was drawn which reads that there is no peace without tolerance and that the key thing is mutual respect and understanding.

The project "Empowering Refugee Women and Children" is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).
