International Human Rights Day celebrated in the Reception Center Šid
12. Dec 2022.
International Human Rights Day is celebrated around the world on December 10, and this year under the motto "Dignity, freedom and justice for all". The commemoration of this date was established in 1950 at the United Nations General Assembly.
Human rights are basic rights that every person in the world has. They are acquired by birth, indivisible and inalienable, inherent to all people, regardless of citizenship, residence, gender, national and ethnic origin, skin color, religion, language or any other status.
In the Reception center Šid, EHO educators held a workshop on the topic of "Human Rights" through the project "Empowerment of refugee women and children". A dialogue about rights was conducted with the children, starting with the question what rights mean to them, and they contributed to the discussion by making artwork on the mentioned topic.
The project "Empowerment of Refugee Women and Children" is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) .
