On on January 24, the world celebrates International Day of Education. With the encouragement of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), this day was celebrated for the first time in 2019, in order to focus attention on the importance of education.

In the reception center in Sombor, an educator from the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, engaged in the project "Empowerment of refugee women and children", celebrated the International Day of Education with the youngest dwellers of this camp through creative and educational workshops. In the educational part, youngest beneficiaries of the center were available to test their knowledge through various tasks in mathematics, foreign language and spelling.

In the creative part, the children together with the educator created a poster that pointed out the importance of education, the importance of creating educational conditions, so that all children could realize their right to education, as well as the power of knowledge.

The project "Empowering Refugee Women and Children" is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).
