At the beginning of April 2023, the delivery of equipment for self-employment to this year's beneficiaries of this assistance began, as part of the project intended for returnees from Germany and other Western European countries "Assistance for a New Start".

This year, 12 returnees from the territory of Sremska Mitrovica, Ruma and Pećinci received support. They have previously undergone Training on writing a business plan and the selection of their applications with a business plan by the Commission for the selection of beneficiaries. In addition to the requested equipment worth up to 750 euros without VAT, beneficiaries will also receive professional support from EHO advisor in running their own business until the end of May, all with the aim of achieving the best possible business results and higher income for their household.

During the first delivery on April 6 in Sremska Mitrovica, the representative of GIZ Serbia, Marija Dragić, Project Manager/PME Focal Point in Serbia, as well as Ana Birgeš, EHO Project Coordinator, were also present and verified on the spot the satisfaction of the beneficiaries with the equipment received. On that occasion, various tools for car mechanics were delivered to Miodrag Dimić from Laćarak and equipment for washing cars, carpets and furniture to Marija Đanija Halilović.

The services provided are supported, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, under the “Migration for Development” (PME) Programme.
