International Earth Day celebrated with children from the Reception Center Šid - Station

24. Apr 2023.

International Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22 in order to draw attention to the importance of preserving nature and preventing the negative consequences of human activities on the environment. This date has been marked since 1970, and in 2009 the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution A/RES/63/278, seeking to emphasize the global importance of marking this date, in order to warn of the dangers that threaten life on Earth, ecosystems and urban areas due to industrial development, increased energy consumption, global warming and climate change.

In the Reception Center Šid - Station, EHO educators engaged in the project "Empowerment of refugee women and children", in the children's corner, organized a workshop on the mentioned topic, so that the children staying in the camp are aware of their responsibility towards the planet we live on and thus reducing the negative impact on the environment.

The project "Empowerment of refugee women and children" is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).
