International Day Against Child Labour
13. Jun 2023.
The International Day Against Child Labor was first celebrated on June 12, 2002. This date reminds us every year that there are children who, due to adult abuse, are prevented from growing up in humane conditions and thus being happy. In the light of this important date, activists of the EHO project "Support for children who are at risk of being involved in life and/or work on the street" organized workshops on the topic of welcoming people who, due to difficult life circumstances, found themselves refugees staying in our country. Workshops were also held with children and young people from the Veliki Rit settlement, aiming to emphasize the way in which children should spend their free time by involving children and young people in cultural and social events and thus move them away from children's labour, which is increasingly present in their free time. A visit to the cinema was also organized. On that occasion, the film projection "The Little Mermaid" was selected, and art workshops on this theme were held at the elementary school "Veljko Petrović". The pupils of Elementary School "Veljko Petrović" also participated in this art workshop by creating artworks that follow the slogan "Hope is far from home" launched by the High Commissariat for Refugees in the Republic of Serbia this year.
The project "Support for children at risk of being involved in life and/or work on the street" is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the H. Stepic Foundation from Vienna.
