The event was opened by the address of the representative of UNHCR in the Republic of Serbia, Sufijan Ađali, and the representative of the City Council of the City of Novi Sad for social protection and family and child care.
The program itself contained the performance of children's songs by the choir of the "Isidor Bajić" Music School from Novi Sad, "Suncokreti", which was followed by the presentation of the B13 dance group created as part of the EHO program empowerment, which consists of young people from the Veliki Rit neighborhood in Novi Sad. After the musical performance, all those present had the opportunity to taste the specialties of Ukrainian cuisine. The event was accompanied by an art exhibition in the spirit of this year's UNHCR slogan "There is hope far from home". On that occasion, the works of the students of the "Jožef Atila" Primary School, the "Mechanical High School", the "Svetozar Marković" Gymnasium from Novi Sad and the "Veljko Petrović" Primary School from Begeč were exhibited.
The realized activity is one in a series that is carried out on the occasion of the World Refugee Day. During 2023, the ecumenical humanitarian organization carried out a series of activities in cooperation with UNHCR. The next joint activity is coming up on the very day of the above mentioned day at the PC in Sombor, within which the message will once again be sent that there is hope far from home.
For the third year in a row, the ecumenical humanitarian organization in PCs Šid-Stanica and Sombor is implementing the project "Empowerment of refugee women and children" with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church from Chicago.
