In 2000, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a Resolution declaring June 20 as International Refugee Day. This day is marked in memory of those people who were forced to leave their homes as a result of wars, due to fear of persecution, violence, conflict, but also as a sign of support for those who are still facing similar problems today.

On this occasion, associates of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, engaged in the project "Empowerment of Refugee Women and Children", and in cooperation with KIRS and the DRC organization, organized a sports day in RC Šid. A dexterity training ground was set up in the yard of the camp, where competitive games were held in which 24 unaccompanied minors, who are currently users of the center, took part. Special prizes were awarded to the best competitors.

The goal of this activity is to encourage physical activity, preserve physical and mental health, socialize, encourage competitive spirit, and encourage a cheerful and pleasant atmosphere.

The project "Empowerment of Refugee Women and Children" is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).
