On that side of Danube river
28. Jun 2023.
The school holidays have started, and children need to have a structured free time during the holidays. Free time can be spent in different ways, such as playing, socializing, learning and acquiring new skills, gaining new experience...
On Tuesday, June 27, an excursion was organized for children who are part of the EHO projects "Service Center - Starting Point" and "Additional educational support for returnee children". The goal of these two projects is the (re)integration of returnees living in Novi Sad.
Novi Sad is the city where they live, but many children are not familiar with all of the cultural sights that exist in the city. Many of them have never been "on the other side of the Danube", many of them have seen the "old house", the "fortress" only in passing, from a distance...
Together with the associates on the mentioned projects, 18 children and young people headed from Velik rit to the center of Novi Sad, and then to the Petrovaradin fortress. At the fortress, they enjoyed a tour, observing the city with binoculars, explaining which river flows past Novi Sad, informing about the clock and the fortress itself, about "love padlocks"... The children socialized very nicely, were well behaved and enjoyed the trip.
The mentioned projects are part of the project "Strengthening of national and local systems to support effective socio-economic integration of returnees in the Western Balkans" funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). German language workshops and "My Story" workshops were held in the Service Center during the period January - June for returnee children, children who lived with their families in one of the states of the Federal Republic of Germany, and they also use the Service Center for homework and tutor support to overcome the maze of school curriculum.
