Cooperation memorandum signed with 7 local self-governments in Serbia

On Tuesday, September 12, 2023. In Kragujevac, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, as part of the project "Social Inclusion for the Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026", organized the signing of an agreement on cooperation with seven units of local self-governments - Beočin, Kovin, Velika Plana, and the city municipalities of Zvezdara. and Voždovac and the cities of Niš and Kragujevac.

The signing of the document on the implementation of the project was attended by the Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Tomislav Žigmanov.

Opening remarks were given by the mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dašić, the Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Tomislav Žigmanov, the director of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, Anna Brtka Valent, dr. Gordana Damjanović to the member of the City Council for Health and Social Care and project coordinator Slađana Jovanović.

After the opening address, the representatives of the mentioned local governments proceeded to sign the cooperation agreement.

The host of the given event, the city of Kragujevac, is a long-term partner of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization on various projects, and the signing of the agreement continues further successful cooperation.

The importance of this project is affirmative actions in education, solving the legalization of illegal buildings in order to improve housing, as well as preventing the occurrence of discrimination against socially vulnerable groups and fostering equality in our society so that Roma and other sensitive groups are treated with dignity and without discrimination.

The project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026" is supported by the Swiss organization HEKS/EPER.
