International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been celebrated since 1992, when the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution calling on all countries to celebrate this day with the intention of raising awareness of the position of persons with disabilities in political, social, economic and cultural life. and all in order to improve their position and create conditions for the equal participation of people with disabilities in society.
People with disabilities, everywhere in the world, face physical, social, economic and perception barriers that exclude them from full participation in society as equal members. In this way, people with disabilities are further endangered. That's why the whole community and all citizens should make an extra effort and show greater understanding for people with disabilities and the problems they face every day. Through various activities and projects, our organization helps people with disabilities in order to improve their quality of life.
By providing high-quality home care services and help at home, our organization strives to improve the quality of life of the elderly and sick, as well as people with disabilities, who have physical and psychological difficulties that make them unable to live independently in their homes without regular help in carrying out activities of daily living, care and supervision, and they do not have available or insufficient family support. Home care and help at home services are currently provided in the municipalities of: Novi Sad, Stara Pazova, Bački Petrovac, Plandište, Raška, Alibunar and Gadžin Han.
Through the Child's Personal Companion service, by providing appropriate individual practical support to a child with a disability, inclusion in regular schooling and activities in the community is enabled, in order to establish the highest possible level of independence. Our organization currently provides this service in the municipalities of Bački Petrovac and Raška.
Counseling therapy and social educational services that we currently provide in the municipality of Raška are intended for people with disabilities. These services include psychological and defectological clinical assessment and diagnostics, speech therapy, oligophrenology and psychological treatment of children and individual treatment-rehabilitation of children aged 0-18 years, counseling of parents. Work on the basis of semi-intensive psychological, defectological and speech therapy treatment, both group and individual, depending on the needs and possibilities of the user. For adults, the aforementioned services include training for working on machines for processing wood, metal, plastic, paper into canvas, depending on the user's capabilities and needs.
The day center for people with disabilities, located in the building of our organization in Novi Sad, aims to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, develop activism and independence, as well as economic empowerment of people with disabilities. Various types of workshops are available as part of the employment program, and the most important is the EHO tailoring workshop, a project that was conceived as a forerunner of a social enterprise and aims to employ people with disabilities and less employable categories of the population.
