Teachers, professional associates and pedagogical assistants from seven elementary schools and employees of one preschool institution in Serbia had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge during November at five accredited trainings within the project "Social inclusion for dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023 -2026“.

According to the participants, the training organized by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization was very professional, meaningful, useful and most importantly applicable in today's very complex and demanding educational system. Students have different needs and the sensitization of the professional staff is of crucial importance.

The meeting of teachers and other professional staff and the exchange of experience between them was also a very important part of the training.

Inclusive education is a special area in which the knowledge of professional staff is of crucial importance. The employees especially emphasize the importance of support in the implementation of inclusive education, improvement of competences for its implementation, recognition of children who need additional support and development of a support plan.

Participants are empowered and directed to use different data sources and information gathering strategies in planning their work, in order to better respond to the needs of students. As a particularly important segment in the application of inclusive education, the importance of forming a peer network to support students who need such help to master the material was highlighted.

Employees from elementary schools "19 Oktobar", "Third Battalion of Kragujevac", "Mirko Jovanović" and "Vuk Stefanović Karadžić" from Kragujevac participated in the trainings; primary schools "Vojvoda Putnik" from Ripnje, "Jovan Popović" from Susek, "Jovan Grčić Milenko" from Beočin and employees from the kindergarten "Petar Pan" from Smederevska Palanka. Through professional trainings in October and November, 200 teachers, professional associates and pedagogical assistants were strengthened.

The project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026" is financed by the HEKS EPER.
