EHO together with Provincial Protector of Citizens - Ombudsman against anti-Gypsyism

12. Feb 2024.

On February 9, representatives of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) held a meeting with Dragana Ćorić of the Provincial Protector of Citizens - Ombudsman, focusing on the topics of discrimination against Roma and anti-Gypsyism.

The event emphasized the openness of the Office of the Provincial Ombudsman for cooperation in the fight against discrimination, as well as support for projects aimed at inclusion, especially the project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable people in Serbia 2023-2026", which is implemented by EHO.

At the meeting, the "ambassadors of antigypsyism" presented their experiences and how they fight against negative attitudes and prejudices towards members of the Roma community.

The ambassadors of antigypsyism are a group of 13 people, members of the Roma and majority communities, who are actively engaged in the fight against antigypsyism, i.e. prejudices, stereotypes and discrimination directed towards members of the Roma community. They work to raise public awareness of the problems Roma face, promoting understanding, respect and inclusion.

This meeting is another step towards creating a more inclusive society, where together we fight against all forms of discrimination and provide support to those who live on the margins.
