"Interculture and our culinary adventure" in the Girls' Club at the Elementary School "Karađorđe" in Velika Plana
Through the educational component of the project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable people in Serbia 2023-2026", clubs were formed that gather girls attending the 4th, 5th and 6th grades.
During May, in Elementary School "Karađorđe" in Velika Plana, with the joint agreement of children, pedagogical assistants, pedagogues and parents, the Girls' Club realized a workshop called "Interculture and our cooking adventure".
Through the workshop, the culture of the people and traditional food from Italy, Thailand, Serbia, Bulgaria and India were presented. During the visit to the stands, participants and attendees received information about culture, culinary recipes, but also to learn a new word in a foreign language. Getting to know each other through cooking and food preparation workshops is the easiest step in connecting with each other, establishing contact, developing empathy and interculturality.
During May, the girls, members of the club, went on a trip to Radovanjski lugu, where sports activities, walks, brain teasers and a treasure hunt were organized.
All girls are involved in the planning of joint activities, we monitor their needs and continue to achieve good results and positive changes through the work of our clubs.
The goal of the clubs is to, through regular monthly gatherings and workshops, provide additional support to girls, empower them and highlight the importance of education as a path to independence.
Pedagogical assistants play an important role in the work as trustworthy persons and significant support for children and parents, who are involved in school activities with their help.
The club's work is directed towards the practical implementation of inclusive values and practices, including intercultural education, with a special focus on creating a non-discriminatory and safe environment for children and support in continuing their education.
During the previous year, we formed 7 clubs for girls in 7 partner elementary schools:
OŠ „Jovan Grčić Milenko“ - Beočin,
OŠ „Bora Radić“ - Bavanište,
OŠ „Despot Stefan Lazarević“ - Zvezdara,
OŠ „Vojvoda Putnik“ - Ripanj,
OŠ „19 Oktobar“ - Kragujevac,
