Elementary school "19. Oktobar" in Maršić participated in the implementation of a project supported by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, within the project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026".

The goal of the project "Diversities that connect" is to improve the educational experiences of students, reduce discrimination and improve intercultural skills. The project aims to strengthen the links between the school, parents and the local community, creating an inclusive environment for all.

Activities within the project included parent education and their active involvement in school activities, workshops for children, painting school corridors with the themes of diversity, tolerance and mutual respect.

A special focus was on the celebration of the Pink T-shirt Day, a global day dedicated to the fight against peer violence, with the recording of the activity by drone, which recorded the atmosphere and engagement of all participants. On Pink T-shirts Day, tolerance, empathy, respect for diversity, cooperation and non-violent conflict resolution were promoted, which contributed to raising awareness of the fight against peer violence.

World Roma Day, April 8, was also marked through a lecture on Roma holidays and customs, along with the organization of events with exhibitions, lectures and cultural performances. The event brought together the entire community, including parents, teachers and local government.

The "Diversities that connect" project has made significant progress in promoting inclusivity and intercultural understanding. The school has succeeded in creating a supportive environment for students, parents and the local community, improving the educational experience and intercultural skills of students. The project's activities had a lasting impact on everyone who was part of it, contributing to the development of a tolerant and inclusive community.
