Elementary School "Mirko Jovanović" from Kragujevac successfully implemented an intercultural project aimed at encouraging the development of social and emotional intelligence and mutual acceptance and appreciation of pupils. The project was implemented with the support of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, within the project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026".

The goal of the project is to develop pupils’ sense of empathy and the ability to accept diversity. The project's activities included workshops for the development of key competencies, the arrangement of a common space in the school, and also a tour of the museum and aquarium. Through these activities, pupils learned how to value themselves, make responsible decisions and develop moral thinking, while at the same time strengthening peer relationships and communication.

The expected results of the project included not only the improvement of cooperation among pupils, but also the development of their communication skills, the strengthening of team spirit, and the creation of a positive environment that encourages joint work and mutual respect.

Through workshop work, peer learning and extracurricular activities, the school stimulated the social and emotional development of students. With such an approach, pupils learn how to behave responsibly and inclusively, develop empathy and establish positive relationships with peers.

The project significantly contributed to better understanding and bringing together pupils of different nationalities, helping them develop key competencies for successful functioning in the social environment.
