On the intercultural EHO project "Happy classroom" in Elementary School "Karađorđe" in Velika Plana
06. Sep 2024.
Elementary School "Karađorđe" in Velika Plana implemented a project to increase pupil motivation and engagement with the support of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, within the project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable people in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026".
The goal of the "Happy Classroom" project is to increase the motivation and engagement of pupils, with a special focus on children from dysfunctional families, which represents a significant challenge, not only for the school, but also for the wider community.
The main goal of the project is to improve the ties between the school, children and parents by creating an environment in which all actors will feel accepted and supported. For this purpose, the concept of "Happy Classroom" was developed - a dynamic space that serves as a center for meetings, work and socializing. In this way, the classroom becomes the center of realized activities, a place where children can express themselves, learn and develop in a stimulating environment.
Through 16 workshops and various interactive activities, pupils were able to acquire new knowledge, strengthen mutual ties and develop skills in various fields.
As a final activity and a sign of recognition for the effort and engagement of the students, an excursion and visit to the Natural History Museum in Svilajnec was organized. This excursion was the highlight of the project and an opportunity for pupils to gain new experiences and knowledge.
The "Karađorđe" school strives to improve the educational and social development of its pupils through new projects and innovative approaches. The idea of the "Happy Classroom" will become a key part of school activities in order to create an environment for children and their families in which they will feel accepted, supported and motivated to achieve the best results.
The project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026" is financed by HEKS EPER, Switzerland.
