A working meeting in Kragujevac to present EHO project results acieved so far

The project team of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, the Mobile and Project Team, presented the results achieved so far and defined future steps in the further process of legalizing facilities in Roma settlements, presented activities to prevent discrimination and gypsyism as a form of racism, presented intercultural inclusive education and prevention of leaving the education system of young Roma men and women at the meeting with the Council for the Improvement of the Position of the Roma, held in the City Administration of Kragujevac.

In cooperation with the expert services of the city administration of Kragujevac, the Anti-Discrimination Code was developed, as a reminder to officials of what discrimination is and how to act. In the field of intracultural education, trainings were held for 77 teachers of primary schools in Kragujevac, after which small school projects were created and three schools received grants of 150 thousand dinars each for the implementation of activities.

As part of housing support, the legalization of residential buildings is underway as one of the most important segments of the project, which includes about 40 buildings in Roma settlements with the support of the City Administration for Property and Legislation and the Department for Human and Minority Rights of the City of Kragujevac.

The project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026" is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of HEKS-EPER Switzerland.
