On Thursday, September 26, the Girls' Club of the Elementary School "Bora Radić" from Bavanište hosted the President of the Municipality of Kovin, Violeta Ocokoljić.

The club at "Bora Radić" elementary school is attended by 18 girls, who realize various activities, with the help and support of a pedagogical assistant and a teacher of the Romani language.

The President of the Municipality of Kovin was greeted by the director of the school, Branislav Dolovački, after which the girls also introduced themselves. During the visit, they shared their experiences and impressions of the club's activities, emphasizing how important it is to them.

President Ocokoljić got acquainted with the activities of the Club, which through regular monthly workshops provides support and motivation to girls to recognize the importance of education. The workshops help them develop personal skills and provide direction towards professional orientation and future occupations. The club also actively contributes to the prevention of discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes, so boys who are interested in participating in certain activities often join.

During the visit, the President of the Municipality of Kovin emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for the future, stressing the importance of the existence of such a project and additional support for students. In addition, she expressed her willingness to be actively involved in future initiatives, providing full support to the project and its goals.

In that spirit, she invited the members of the club to visit the Municipality of Kovin, where they will have the opportunity to learn about the work of various services and gain insight into the functioning of the local community. This visit will provide them with an excellent opportunity to learn more about the available resources, procedures and opportunities that they can use for their future educational and personal development. She also distributed symbolic gift packages to the girls as a sign of support for their friendship and participation in this project.

The girls' club is part of the project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable people in Serbia", which is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, and through which seven clubs for girls were formed in seven elementary schools in Serbia. During Children's Week, the Girls' Club is preparing to visit the Municipality of Kovin.

The project "Social inclusion for a dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in the Republic of Serbia 2023-2026" is financed by HEKS EPER, Switzerland.
