Ambassadors against gypsyism at a meeting with the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality

The team of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization attended a meeting with the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Brankica Janković, during which he presented the activities of the project "Social inclusion for the dignified life of Roma and other vulnerable persons in Serbia 2023-2026".

The focus of the meeting was on Ambassadors against gypsyism, members of the Roma and non-Roma communities whose goal is to reduce the ethnic distance but also to make the institutions, the community and the whole society aware that a specific form of discrimination against Roma - anti-gypsyism - is unacceptable.

The ambassadors had the opportunity to present the goals of their activities and the reasons why they decided to join the initiative.

In the conversation with the Commissioner, they talked about the widespread discrimination that the Roma community faces every day.

Also, the meeting discussed possible joint activities between the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization.

The ambassadors had the opportunity to present concrete examples as well as how they act in the fight against gypsyism, as a special form of racism.
