International Day of the Girl Child celebrated
14. Oct 2024.
On Friday, October 11, we celebrated World Day of the Girl Child, an event that aims to draw attention to the rights of girls and the challenges they face around the world. This year, the director of the Office for Roma Inclusion, Ljiljana Mihajlović, hosted the girls from the "Girls Club", which was formed within the project "Empowerment of Roma girls and women 2024-2027".
The girls had the opportunity to hear inspiring stories and advice from Ljiljana Mihajlović, who became a real role model for them. During the meeting, Ljiljana Mihajlović shared her experiences of overcoming obstacles on the way to education and professional development. Her words encouraged the girls to believe in themselves, to fight for their dreams and not to give up on their goals.
In addition, she discussed the importance of education, which is key to empowering and protecting girls, stressing that every step towards education is a step towards better opportunities for the future. This event was not only an opportunity to learn, but also to bond among girls and strengthen the community. Their enthusiasm showed interest in their own future and desire to become active participants in society.
World Girl Child Day reminds us how important it is to work on the empowerment of girls and women, as well as the need to ensure equality in education and life opportunities. We believe that experiences like these will leave a lasting impact on girls, inspiring them to continue on their journey.
