Volunteer management training for HVSA project partners

28. Oct 2024.

On October 21 and 22, 2024, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization organized online training via the Zoom platform on the topic of volunteer management, within the project "Humanitarian Volunteerism for Solidarity Activities" (HVSA). This training brought together all project partners and aimed to improve knowledge and skills in the field of volunteer management, in order to ensure effective support and integration of volunteers in projects across partner organizations.

The HVSA project, supported by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps program, is dedicated to strengthening the social inclusion and integration of vulnerable groups, providing support for their personal, social, economic and educational development. The project brings together eight partners, including two organizations from the EU (Czech Republic and Slovakia) and six host organizations outside the EU (Serbia, Uganda, Zambia), who will together recruit, train and deploy 24 European Solidarity Corps volunteers to work in local communities.

During the two-day training, the participants had the opportunity to learn in detail the basic principles of volunteer management through various sessions and workshops. The training covered topics such as the volunteer management framework and cycle, volunteer scheduling, volunteer support and well-being during engagement, using digital volunteer management tools, as well as case studies and real-world best practice examples.

Volunteer management training is part of the broader goal of the HVSA project, which promotes social inclusion, the development of digital and life skills, and the reduction of climate change risks. Through improving the capacity of partner organizations, this project contributes to strengthening support for vulnerable communities in Serbia, Uganda and Zambia, as well as the sustainability of volunteer activities in these areas.
