EHO presented the Roma community strengthening & inclusive education model at the 2024 Eurodiaconia Roma Inclusion Network meeting
10. Dec 2024.
The meeting was organized by Eurodiaconia, on 7 and 8 November 2024 in Budapest, Hungary. The network meeting is hosted by the Reformed Church in Hungary.
This year's network meeting covered the following topics: 1) Roma's opportunities to access inclusive education; and 2) the role of social service providers in combating Gypsyism and building trust within communities through inclusive educational environments. By discussing these topics, the meeting served as a key platform for participants to strengthen the existing network of organizations working for and with the Roma community, support the establishment of partnerships, and align Eurodiaconia's advocacy with the European Commission to present the real state of the Roma community in the countries from which the members come.
EHO representatives had the opportunity to introduce the participants to their practical work in the field of Inclusive Education and Community Mobilization, which they apply in support of the Roma Inclusion process. Slavica Petrović, an EHO project associate who is also a member of the Roma community, had the opportunity to share a personal example of inclusion through education to permanent employment, in addition to other Roma participants from Romania and Hungary.
