International Mother Language Day

20. Feb 2025.

This holiday is celebrated on February 21st and is dedicated to promoting linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism in the world.

At the PC Principovac, EHO associates organized a workshop with users on the occasion of the celebration of Mother Language Day. The conversation highlighted the importance of learning a language for the development of multilingualism and understanding between people belonging to different cultures, to promote and preserve the diversity of the world. Children from different countries and from different speaking areas stay at the PC, so it was emphasized that respect for others is important, and that we should love and preserve our own language. However, love for our mother tongue should not prevent us from learning foreign languages.

A poster was made, with joint efforts, on which we pasted quotes about the importance of knowing different languages, which were translated from English into Farsi and Arabic.

This workshop, as part of the humanitarian EHO project "Empowerment of refugee women, children and unaccompanied minors in Serbia", supported by the ELCA, was attended by 7 beneficiaries.
