How can people be prepared in the best way to start their new life in Germany even before their migration?

01. Apr 2025.

A specialized event from the Diakonia of Germany (Internationale Migrationssozialarbeit - Vorintegration und Übergangsmanagement International social work with migrants - preparation for integration and creation of continuous accompaniment) was held in Berlin on March 10.

Experts, partners and migrants themselves spoke about the main thing: how to make integration effective and safe for everyone?

It is important that the event  welcomed so many engaged actors - among them Reem Alabali-Radovan the representative of the federal government for migration, refugees and integration, who is also the representative for anti-racism in Germany.

Themes mentioned in the event:

  • Migration as a strategic factor in the development of the country. This is not just an answer to staff shortage (there are currently more than 600,000+ open vacancies in Germany, according to the Federal Employment Agency), but an important aspect of public policy.
  • Legal aspects and challenges. Discussed were the flaws of current legislation, the need for early preparation for integration and personal counseling
  • Protection against exploitation. Successful integration is impossible without guarantees of decent working conditions and life for migrants.
  • Lively discussions, analysis of real cases and sharing experience made this day extremely productive.

Among the participants were: Diakonie Deutschland , IHK Berlin, GIZ,German International Cooperation Goethe-Institut and many others.

The specialists of the project "Prepared and successful to Germany" (Vorbereitet und erfolgreich nach Deutschland) also contributed to the event by actively participating in the discussion and presentation of personal experiences and work practices.

This project offers migration advice in 13 non-EU countries.

An important part of the day was the presentation of the results of the International Migration Social Work (IMSA) project where the tested offers and informative materials from the network of pre-integration partners from Nigeria, Morocco, Serbia and Kosovo* were presented.

IMSA supports and accompanies the various offers in the field of pre-integration.

We remind you that consultants of the project "Spremni I uspesni u Nemacku" provide free individual consultations for those planning to work, study or live in Germany.
