Third training for peer educators against discrimination organized

29. Apr 2025.

The Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization organized the third training using the "forum theater" model for a group of peer educators from six elementary schools. The training was held in Vrnjačka Banja from April 23 to 25, 2025.

The trainings are part of the activities of the project "Social Inclusion for a Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Persons in Serbia 2023-2026" are aimed to empower a group of children from partner primary schools to contribute to the creation of a non-discriminatory environment in their schools through an artistic and educational approach. Taught to use the techniques of the forum theater model, the children are empowered to recognize discrimination in different situations and, using the skills learned, to react with confidence and in an appropriate manner.

The forum theatre model allows young people to bring real-life situations to life and explore different ways of solving problems together, learning from each other and strengthening empathy and solidarity.

A group of 28 selected peers, anti-discrimination educators, developed scenes that depict forms of discrimination and possible ways of responding. During the training, key messages were defined with the aim of conveying them to a wider audience and contributing to building a society that fosters equality and respect for diversity. As part of the thematic workshop titled "The Path of Equality", the participants learned and took with them an important message: "Equality does not mean that we are all the same - but that everyone has the right to be who they are, without fear and prejudice."

This training represents another step in our organization's contribution to creating a society where everyone feels accepted, respected and dignified. Once again, this is another opportunity to say NO to discrimination together with our project participants!

The project "Social Inclusion for a Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Groups in Serbia 2023–2026" is funded by HEKS EPER Switzerland and implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization in Serbia.
