A distribution of school backpacks and supplies in Novi Sad

30. Sep 2025.
As every year in this season, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization provided support to future first-graders, as well as children already included in the education system who are at risk of social exclusion. Support was provided to children from the substandard settlement of Adice, as well as children from other parts of Novi Sad who requested help.
With the aim to prepare children for school, educational and creative workshops were organized during the summer for future first-graders from the Adice settlement. Children from higher grades also showed interest, so the workshops were divided into two groups – for preschoolers and for students already included in the education system.
During the month of August, a distribution of school backpacks and school supplies was organized. This action included a total of 180 children. Backpacks and supplies were provided for all children included in the education system, while anatomical backpacks with complete supplies were prepared for future first graders: pencil cases, graphite pencils, erasers, sharpeners, notebooks of various formats and lines, as well as art supplies - notebooks, notebook bags, watercolors, crayons, brushes, palettes and wax paints. In this way, it was possible for children to step into school ready and with joy.
The distribution of backpacks and supplies is part of Phase IV of the model of support for children in the transition from preschool to school. The model includes five phases: assistance with enrollment in the first grade, monitoring the number of enrolled children, organizing educational workshops during the summer, distributing school supplies, and supporting children after the start of the school year through after-school learning assistance provided by volunteers.
Our organization implements these activities within the project "Support for children at risk of being involved in street life and/or work", which is implemented with the support of the H.Stepic CEE Charity. The goal of the project is to reduce the dependence of children on the street and include them in regular educational and social activities.
