EHO organized a training for teaching staff to support children in their work using the forum theater model

07. Oct 2025.
Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization organized a three-day training in Velika Plana on "Using Forum Theater in Working with Youth for Professional Associates and Pedagogical Assistants". The participants in the training were professional associates, teachers and pedagogical assistants from five partner schools: Elementary School "Bora Radić" Bavanište, Elementary School "Karađorđe" Velika Plana, Elementary School "Vuk Karadžić" Niš, Elementary School "Vojvoda Putnik" Ripanj and Elementary School "19. oktobar" Maršić - Kragujevac. Their staff and pupils underwent training in the use of forum theater and created short films using this method - an innovative approach that encourages critical thinking, empathy and active participation for solving social problems.
During the training, participants developed knowledge through interactive workshops and collaborative work on how using forum theatre can support students and schools to recognise and openly discuss the challenges they face in their everyday lives. One of the inspiring sessions was entitled “What Theatre Can Do”, encouraging the exchange of ideas on the power of art and dramatic expression in education and inclusion.
This activity is being implemented within the project "Social Inclusion for a Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Persons in Serbia 2023–2026", supported by the Swiss organization HEKS/EPER, and implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization.
Forum theater, as a method of participatory learning, has proven to be a valuable tool in creating an inclusive school environment, as it helps students develop understanding, self-confidence, and solidarity through art and shared dialogue.
