International Day of the Girl celebrated by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization

16. Oct 2025.

On Saturday, October 11, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization marked the International Day of the Girl. This activity was implemented as part of the project “Empowering Roma Girls and Women”, supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization.

During the workshop titled “Confidence Show”, the girls dedicated themselves to themselves – to their wishes, thoughts, hopes and dreams. Each written message, hung on a balloon and released into the sky, was a silent but powerful expression of their faith in a better tomorrow. The sky that day was filled with colors and messages that carried their strength, courage and desire to change the world around them.

The girls were particularly inspired by the successful Roma women who participated in the workshop. Through personal stories, experiences and conversations, they showed by their example that it is possible to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. Their presence was a powerful message of support and encouragement, but also a confirmation that every girl is capable of building her own path to success.

This day, dedicated to empowering girls around the world, reminds us of the importance of equal opportunities, education and support for every girl to develop her potential and self-confidence. It is the task of all of us to support every girl on her journey, encourage her to believe in oneself and support her to achieve her dreams.
