The Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO), within the project "Social Inclusion for a Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Persons in Serbia 2023–2026", supported by the Swiss organization HEKS/EPER, organized workshops for girls from the Girls' Club and their parents in two partner schools: Elementary School "Karađorđe" in Velika Plana and Elementary School "19. Oktobar" in Maršić (Kragujevac). The Girls' Clubs operate in seven elementary schools with the aim of empowering girls and providing support in continuing their education.

A workshop entitled "Mirror of Strength - I'm Good Enough!" was held in Velika Plana, dedicated to strengthening relationships between parents and children, developing trust and recognizing personal qualities. Through creative work, the girls created “mirrors of strength” on which they displayed their talents, characteristics and what they love about themselves, while the parents wrote messages of support and pride for their children. The exchange of messages and joint activities contributed to a more open conversation about self-confidence, support, mutual understanding and strengthening of parental relationships.

At the “19. Oktobar” Elementary School, the workshop was led by our associate, a psychologist from the “Vuk Karadžić” Elementary School in Niš, who spoke with parents and students about the importance of education and encouraging girls in choosing their future path. Special emphasis was placed on motivating parents to communicate more regularly with the school and be more actively involved in their children’s school life, but also on reminding them to send their children to school regularly, which is one of the key challenges in this community. The girls talked about what they are good at and what they would like to achieve, while parents were encouraged to recognize their children’s strengths and actively participate in their educational development.

The workshops contributed to strengthening the bond between parents and children and raising awareness about the importance of supporting girls, both in everyday life and in the school environment. The activities are part of EHO's ongoing efforts to strengthen the motivation, self-confidence and educational prospects of female students in partner schools through Girls' Clubs.
