Today we celebrate our 33rd birthday and we’d like to share a special value share with you – a value that brought us together in the EHO team – it is diaconia, or service.

Yes, it is inspired by faith. But its essence is universal and overarching: it is in the practical care for a person, especially when he or she is on the margins and when they have no one to turn to.

In practice, this means something rather concrete: instead of waiting for a problem to “appear in the office”, we go into the field, visit people, monitor situation developments over time. The Home Care service, family support services, presence in communities – such work is often without a spotlight, but it surely has a great impact.

Service is not merely an “action” it is rather our way to build relationships and trust.
