“Girls’ Club” marked International Women’s Day with a workshop and socializing

10. Mar 2026.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) organized a workshop for members of the “Girls’ Club”. The club brings together girls from the Roma community, their mothers, grandmothers and sisters, as well as successful Roma women who provide support and motivation to younger generations through their example.

The workshop was held at the EHO premises and was dedicated to marking this important date. Through conversation, socializing and exchanging experiences, in a pleasant and supportive atmosphere, the participants had the opportunity to share their thoughts, life stories and advice, but also to provide mutual support and encouragement.

The workshop was led by two successful Roma women and role models from the community, Anastasija Sulejmanović and Mirjana Sulejmanović, who shared their personal and professional experiences with the girls. Through their stories about education, work and overcoming challenges, they motivated the girls to believe in themselves, continue their education and persevere in achieving their goals.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the importance of family support in the lives of girls. It was emphasized how important mothers, grandmothers and sisters are in the process of growing up, education and making important life decisions, as well as how much their support contributes to strengthening the self-confidence of young girls.

The participants also discussed the importance of education as one of the key factors for building a safer and more successful future, as well as the role of women in the family and society. Through open discussion and mutual encouragement, the workshop was an opportunity to further motivate the girls to continue their education and believe in their own abilities.

Through such activities, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization continues to provide support to girls and women from socially vulnerable communities, creating a safe environment for their development and empowerment. The “Girls’ Club” remains a place of support, inspiration and encouragement for the education of young Roma women.

The project is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
