"Girls Who Change the World" send messages on the occasion of International Women's Day
12. Mar 2026.
At the "19. Oktobar" Elementary School in Maršić, members of the Girls' Club participated in a workshop called "Girls Who Change the World". On the occasion of International Women's Day, the workshop was implemented as part of the project "Social Inclusion for a Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Persons in Serbia 2023–2026", which is implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with the support of the Swiss organization HEKS/EPER.
During the workshop, the girls participated in interactive activities designed to empower them, develop their self-confidence and encourage thinking about the future. The introductory part discussed what it means to be a strong girl, and the participants highlighted qualities such as courage, perseverance, intelligence and self-belief. Special emphasis was placed on education, effort and perseverance, through stories about inspiring women from history, including Marie Curie, Rosa Parks, as well as other successful women.
The workshop also included a discussion on the importance of women's financial independence and the opportunities for girls to achieve their goals through education and work, especially in socially vulnerable environments. The creative part of the activity, entitled "My Message to the World", allowed the girls to express messages of support and empowerment for other girls of their peers, and then a mini photo campaign "Girls Change the World" was implemented.
At the end of the workshop, the participants were given symbolic gifts, and the entire activity took place in a very positive and encouraging atmosphere. The importance of continuing to organize similar workshops in the Girls' Club was emphasized, in order to further encourage their self-confidence, development of ambitions and empowerment, especially girls from socially vulnerable environments.
