International Women's Day celebrated at Reception Center Bujanovac

12. Mar 2026.

The Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO), supported by the Evangeelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), honored the International Women's Day - March 8th by organizing a creative workshop with migrants at the Reception Center for migrants in Bujanovac/Serbia.

The workshop was dedicated to empowering women and expressing gratitude through artistic expression. Through drawing and handwork, children and young people created works of art dedicated to women who are important to them - mothers, sisters, teachers, friends.

The participants drew female figures and decorated them with colors and pom-pom details, choosing symbols that represent strength, tenderness, beauty and love for them. Each work was unique, and the creation process encouraged a conversation about the role of women in the family and society.

The workshop ended with a joint exhibition of works and a message of gratitude to all women who contribute to the community every day. Thus the power of the art again for expressing emotions, values, and support was proven once more.

To conclude, the celebration of the Women's Day was another opportunity for EHO to contribute to a raised awareness of the importance of equality, respect and empowerment of women among the target users at the Bujanovac Reception Center.
