Colors of Equality – a creative workshop on the fight against racial discrimination

08. Apr 2026.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization organized a creative workshop called “Colors of Equality” at the SCRM/KIRS Reception Center in Bujanovac, supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

The workshop brought together children and young people, who used drawing and coloring skills to express their uniqueness, and also to show how they see the world around them. Through motifs of flowers and human figures, the participants used a variety of colors and shapes, symbolically representing the richness of different identities, cultures and experiences.

A special focus was on the message that all differences – whether related to origin, appearance or language – are what make us unique, but also connected. Through joint work and exchange of ideas, the participants developed a sense of belonging, empathy and mutual understanding.

At the end of the workshop, the works were exhibited as a common message: diversity is strength, and equality is the right of all.

This activity represents another step by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization towards creating a more inclusive and just society, in which everyone has the opportunity to be accepted and respected, with the continued support of partners and donors.
