EHO awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Kragujevac

On the 8th April 2026, The City of Kragujevac awarded the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) a Certificate of Appreciation for our exceptional cooperation, support and contribution to the implementation of policies aimed at improving the position of the Roma community. The awarding of certificates of appreciation was part of the program of the ceremonial academy on the occasion of the International Roma Day in Kragujevac under the title "Voice of Roma Tradition - Centuries of Culture and Dignity". The ceremonial academy was organized on April 8, 2026 at the Knjaževsko-Srpski Theater in Kragujevac.

In September 2023, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization and the City of Kragujevac signed an Agreement on Cooperation on the implementation of the project "Social Inclusion for a Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Persons in Serbia 2023-2026", which is in its fourth year of implementation. The participants of this project are involved in a number of activities in the field of anti-discrimination and anti-Gypsyism, support in education and support in the legalization of illegally constructed housing, including resolving complex procedures in the exercise of property rights.

International Roma Day in Kragujevac was marked through a rich cultural, artistic and musical program that significantly contributed to the visibility of the rich culture, tradition and coexistence of local communities. The event was attended by numerous representatives of state and local institutions, national and local organizations, the academic community of Kragujevac and numerous citizens (https://kragujevac.ls.gov.rs/vest/123799/svecanom-akademijom-u-kragujevcu-obelezen-medjunarodni-dan-roma.php, in Serbian lagzage only) who, through joint action, make a significant contribution to local processes of inclusion of socially vulnerable groups.

EHO and the city of Kragujevac continue to contribute to strengthening the process of inclusion, equality and social justice through joint efforts, work and partnership. The contribution to positive social changes and strengthening the visibility and dignity of the Roma community is supported through the project Social Inclusion for a Dignified Life of Roma and Other Vulnerable Groups in Serbia 2023–2026, funded by the Swiss organization HEKS/EPER and implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization in partnership with seven local governments in Serbia, one of which is the city of Kragujevac.
